Wall Relief
Stainless Steel, Spotlights
Dimensions variable
A commissioned piece created exclusively for Perrier-Jouët’s Enchanted Garden.
A champagne company turns a gallery into an enchanted garden for one night. The usually white space becomes a labyrinth of lush greens and nature where the pieces of In Clover and the customized stainless steel installation high light the garden.
The installation features various insects are buzzing around a tree, all cut from stainless steel sheets. The tree-like clover branches with blossoming anemone flowers entwine along the wall as graphical objects that are enlivened by its surroundings, with reflections created through light and movement. The shiny metal leaves capture light, colour and movement from within the space. At the same time their mirror surfaces reflect a delicate floral pattern of light onto the ground. Three dimensional butterflies and dragonflies flutter between the exuberant leaves – some exist only in halves, one wing on one half of their body. These creatures come to life through interactions with their environment, and it is the reflections of light and shadows that complete their bodies. Thus, the threefold elements of the insects’ shapes: metal, light and shadow create an illusion of positive and negative as if they are alive.
For the same client a beautiful souvenir gift, a necklace with pendant was designed.
This project was in collaboration with MobArt Gallery
and was located at Galery Perrotin, Hong Kong.
