Project Description
Topologies of the In-Between
2026
Site-specific installation
For the StadtRaumBoxen at the Kulturquartier/former Schauspielhaus in Erfurt, I have developed a site-specific installation in which coloured bands rearticulate the space as a network of lines, tensions and planes. Beginning with simple tensile structures, layered formations emerge that move between drawing and architecture, surface and volume, materiality and immateriality. The boxes function as experimental laboratories in which colour, light, shadow and line condense into temporary spatial configurations.
In this work, I explore space not as a fixed entity but as a relational and processual phenomenon that only comes into being through the interplay of material interventions, perception and movement. Lines coalesce into planes, then open back out into the surrounding environment, generating moments of expansion and concentration. Light and shadow extend the physical installation into immaterial dimensions, allowing space to be experienced beyond its architectural boundaries.
Within the context of the former Schauspielhaus – itself undergoing a process of transformation, adaptation and extension – the installation acquires an additional site-specific dimension. It reflects the building’s ongoing spatial and cultural renegotiation. My work asks how minimal interventions can shift spatial orders, alter atmospheres and give rise to new ways of seeing. Space is understood not as a static container, but as a dynamic field that is continuously rewritten through artistic intervention.
To be seen at the Kulturquartier, Erfurt (DE), 8 May–28 June 2026.
