In 2002 video on mobile phones is a new technical development. Mobile phones get more functions such as video and TV. But what can the content for those functions be?
The Japanese mobile phone company docomo seeks contents to be broadcasted on their devices. The videos shall fit the format of the phone’s screen, the format of the functionality of the phone and entertain the audience.
The video “Morning Karaoke” plays with the functionality of a mobile phone. We look straight into the screen to use it for typing and reading, at the same time it can be a mirror, with integrated cameras it gives even more precise reflections of ourselves.
In the video different people look in the ‘mirror’ of the screen, suggesting to do their morning routine while singing along Elvis’ song believing they are undisturbed.
