Project Description
2018/2024
Light object (1/8)
The light object was originally part of the immersive installation “Inside Configurations: Lines, Light and Nodes of Convergence” from 2018, which was exhibited at the Goethe-Institut Hong Kong gallery. This installation –an artificial landscape of abstract lines, triangular light objects and a soundscape– touches upon and illuminates the space between the material world and ourselves. It sharpens our perception and, ultimately, our imagination. It supports and expands the search for consciousness and identity.
Triangles are multifaceted symbols that hold significance in various philosophical, religious, and cultural contexts. They are often seen as symbols of balance and harmony. The three sides and angles represent stability and unity. Plato considered geometric forms, including triangles, as fundamental building blocks of reality. The study of triangles can therefore be interpreted as a search for underlying, abstract truths.
More generally, the triangle can also symbolise the process of creation and change. In spirituality, in particular, it is seen as a sign of transformation and development. The three points can represent different stages or aspects of this process. In many cultures and religions, the triangle represents concepts of the triad or trinity. For example, in Christianity, the triangle often stands for the Holy Trinity (Father, Son, Holy Spirit). In philosophy, it can represent the connection between mind, body, and soul. The path to higher knowledge is symbolised by triangles in mystical traditions. They can represent the process of ascending from a lower to a higher level of consciousness.
Equilateral Configuration, with its intense red glow, conveys these meanings, from stability and harmony to transformation and movement. The vibrant color can also awaken passion, energy, and dynamism within us. The triangle radiates a powerful presence that draws the viewer’s attention and prompts reflection.
Overall, the artwork conveys a sense of power and vitality while simultaneously encouraging a deeper exploration of the triangle’s form and meaning.
The artwork was bought by the Free State Thuringian (Freistaat Thüringen/Staatskanzlei) for its permanent collection in 2024.
To be seen during the exhibition “Out of the Box – Kunstankäufe des Freistaats Thüringen 2024” at the Thüringian State Parliament, Erfurt (DE), 19.11.25–11.01.2026.
